Hi Everybody!
With the days drawing in, and temperatures starting to drop, Winter is upon us.
Time to think of delicious pizzas, red wine, a roaring fire, in fact everything you can find here at Manuka! Our new fireplace is warming up the whole restaurant, there are lots of new wines to choose from, and despite a review of our prices in the light of the rapidly-increasing food costs, our prices are staying the same! In fact, with our next Wine Dinner, we are even bringing the price down!
In the Wine Shop, if you come digging around this month, you might strike gold, and you will definitely strike silver as we are having a promotion on the range of SILVER MYN WINES from Zorgvliet Estate, situated in the beautiful Banhoek Valley.
Neil Moorhouse is one of the most passionate and enthusiastic winemakers I have come across, and even in the middle of harvest, he is more than happy to take visitors through the cellar, and talk about the Zorgvliet and Silver Myn wines he produces.
We are concentrating on the Silver Myn wines as we feel that they offer not only complexity, balance and finesse throughout the range, but also great value.
The 2008 Sauvignon Blanc and Unwooded Chardonnay are also the first wines in South Africa to be released with the latest WAK screwcap closure.
The other wines on promotion include Viognier, Merlot/Cabernet Franc blend, straight Cabernet Franc, Pinot Noir, Shiraz, and Rosé.
If you buy any 6 wines, you will get a 5% discount, and 10% off any 12 wines.
Other 2008 Sauvignon Blancs that have arrived so far include Vergelegen, Groote Post, and Du Preez, but bear in mind that most 2007 Sauvignon Blancs are drinking really well now, and there are still plenty available.
We are also continuing our promotion of Ken Forrester’s “Petit” range of Chenin Blanc, Pinotage and Cabernet Sauvignon/Merlot blend. These are all available at only R35pb (were R38 or R39)
Finally, we have a new budget wine to replace the Paul Roux which has now run out. Come and get Mountain Shadows 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon at R19pb, R105 for 6 or R200 for 12. This is sourced from a highly-reputable Stellenbosch estate and offers GREAT VALUE!
Meet The Winemaker Dinners
Our next Dinner is next Wednesday, 11th June featuring Neil Moorhouse and the SILVER MYN range of wines. To combat ever-increasing costs, we will offer a soup starter, a pizza or pasta of your choice, and coffee, for only R99, including 8 tasting wines and service charge!
Booking is essential, so please make your reservation asap.
As usual, the evening will start at 6.30 for 7.00pm, so phone your friends, get a table together, and come and enjoy a great night out!

Business Networks
If you have a small business, or work from home, or are looking for new leads and contacts, and would like to grow your business, (and wouldn’t we all?), why not join one of the successful Business Networks now operating in the Helderberg.
The Somerset West Network meets here at Manuka, and the next meeting is on Thursday 12th June, at 7.45am. For further details or to book, contact Caroline Malherbe on 076 020 3615.
The Strand Network meets at the Surfside Restaurant and their next meeting is on Wednesday 18th June at 7.45am. Please contact Jean Bulmer on 082 783 2592 for this meeting.
If you want proof of the effectiveness of networking, 2 ladies who attended the last Somerset West meeting have already booked to run their Scrapbooking classes here at Manuka once a month, and if you would like more info on this, please contact Cathy on 021 851 7355.
We use Network members wherever possible, as personal referrals are probably the best, and most effective recommendation.
For those of you off to the Wacky Wine Weekend in Robertson, travel safely, have fun, and we hope it’s not too cold or wet! If you make some great wine discoveries, please come and tell us about them. For the rest, don’t forget that we are here 7 days a week, and wine sales are available on Sundays from 9.00 – 3.30. During the winter, and commencing this Saturday, we will be opening at 9.00am on Saturdays instead of 8.00am. Monday – Friday is still 8.00am as usual, and Sundays we also open at 9.00am. Otherwise, we look forward to seeing you all back at Manuka very soon.
Best Regards, Stephen, Alison, Morné and the Manukans!
